The Greater Genesee County Mothers of Multiples (MOM) Club came into existence in November of 1972. It services Genesee County and all surrounding areas, such as Lapeer, Birch Run, Saginaw and Frankenmuth, Holly, etc. We have a current membership of over 80 members.
Why a Mothers of Multiples Club? To share and understand each other’s joys, triumphs and problems. Sharing our experiences with new mothers hopefully will make things easier for them. These are our motives for establishing the Greater Genesee County Mothers of Multiples. We are a support and social group for mothers with twins, triplets or more. We like to think of it as a Mom’s night out. We recruit members by announcements in our local newspapers, local hospitals and doctors. Last, but not least, word of mouth and personal contacts provide us with new members.
We meet on the third Thursday of each month Sept- May at the Community of Christ Church, G-1158 Bristol Road, (next to Baker College). Occasionally the meeting location will be at a different location, so please call to verify meeting place. Our meetings range from discussions regarding child-rearing to speakers such as doctors, child rearing specialists, fire and safety speakers and other areas of motherhood. The lighter side of our meetings include snacks at our meetings, fun activities for both moms and families. We also have a clothing and equipment sale twice a year to save money when outfitting our multiples. Our club meetings are an excellent opportunity to meet other moms. Many who are in the same state of trying times or moms who have made it through and are proof that you can too. At most meetings, we conduct a small amount of business, have Mom talk time (opportunity to ask for advice about a unique situation), companionship, laughter and a couple times a year we have interesting speakers. Don’t be shy, we have all been there or currently are.
In addition to our monthly meetings the group organizes family and couple activities, play groups, summer outings and community service projects. A monthly newsletter which provides information about monthly meetings, club activities and topics of interest is sent to each member. We have a library that consisists of a collection of books our mothers have found helpful and interesting with many pertaining to multiples. We invite you and your family to become involved in Mothers of Multiples Greater Genesee County ( momggc). For information on becoming a member, you can contact our answering service at (810)762-3545.
With multiples as a common bond, many of our members have developed lasting friendships!
